Mike's on the Run Again!

image1Mike Clipsom, our Technical Support Engineer, has just done a fantastic job raising over £600 for the DC&M chosen charity; Goals Beyond Grass (GBG). Mike completed his very first half marathon in Cheltenham in superb time - just over two hours. “I loved every minute of it, " said Mike, "in fact, I could of just kept running, even when I was over the finish line!”.

Mike, who didn't take up running until his early thirties, is proof that it is never too late to take up a new sport. He believes that providing you are focused and work hard you can achieve anything. Mike said the original motivation for running came from a friend’s father who, having not seen him for some time, commented on Mike’s increasing girth! "I was determined to get my health back on track and address my weight, so running seemed the sensible choice as I love being outside and it's absolutely free!".

Mike started with short, mile and half distances that, by his own admission, left him looking like a 'purple berry’! However, by 2012 he had completed the Leeds 10k and had been officially bitten by the running bug!

Mike will be running again for GBG at the Stroud Half Marathon on Sunday 21st October.
